Fairest: The Lunar Chronicles: Levana’s Story

This volume of the Lunar Chronicles was far more heartbreaking than I expected it to be. What I expected was in here, but there was just more to it than that. This was about more than beauty and more than a man. Fairest looks at what is fair in beauty and what is fair in life. It looks at how easy it can be for several characters to abuse the little bits of power that they have and to be so blinded by privilege that people can’t see how they do harm.

This was an excellent look at a villain, a peak behind the curtain of all the ways she wasn’t the princess who would be rescued and the terrible ways she decided to rescue herself. It’s great for anyone who loves a fairy tale re-imagining or a good villain story. They really can make for just as good protagonists as antagonists.

Here are the links to my reviews for the rest of the series: CinderScarletCressWinter. Plus there are Stars Above.
