Femme Friday – Comic Haul

On my way to finding the right Read Harder comic, I stumbled, but recovered. I had originally chosen Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol. It seemed perfect. It wasn’t about superheroes, it was interesting, but it wasn’t written in the last three years. The reprint was. I was disappointed. While searching for a replacement, I came upon several other great ones, all written more than three years ago. Here they are:

The Dreamer: The Consequence of Nathan Hale - Lora Innes  Underwire - Jennifer Hayden  Princeless Book One: Save Yourself - Jeremy Whitley,M. Goodwin,Jung-Ha Kim,Dave Dwonch  SuicideGirls, Vol. 1 - Steve Niles,Missy Suicide,Brea Grant,Zane Grant,Cameron Stewart  The Waking - Raven Gregory  Pirate Eye Mark of the Black Widow - Josiah Grahn,Carl Yonder   Lumberjanes, Vol. 1 - Noelle Stevenson,Grace Ellis,Brooke A. Allen Can't We Talk about Something More Pleasant?: A Memoir - Roz Chast  Womanthology: Space - Alison E. Ross,Jody Houser,Jennifer Deguzman,Joelle Sellner,Sandy Carpenter,Lois Vanbaarle,Kathryn Lano,Maarta Laiho,Jean Kang,Anna Bowie,Bonnie Tanja,Maja K.,Ellise Heiskell,Blair Butler,Rachel Edidin,Jessica Hickman,Allison Pang,Sophia Foster-Dimino,Chr

Yes, Lumberjanes would have fit but I had noticed a lot of people doing that one in the Goodreads group created for Task 17 Read a non-superhero comic that debuted in the last three years.

I tried convincing myself for a while that Womanthology: Space counted because it was inherently different from it’s predecessor (Womanthology: Heroic) but they are the same series. Then I found Monstress #1 by Sana Takeda,Marjorie M. Liu, which debuted last summer. Visit the author’s site here.
