TTT: Top Ten New-to-me Authors of 2017

This Top Ten Tuesday is about authors that were new to me this year! When the Reading Challenges for last year came out I made an effort to fit in all authors that I had been meaning to get to. These are women who are already well recognized with awards or notoriety of different kinds, big in feminist circles, or that I had been raved about in other book blogs.

  1.  Isabel Allende – Island Beneath the SeaMy Invented Country: A Nostalgic Journey Through Chile
  2. Octavia E. Butler – Kindred (contains spoilers)Bloodchild and other Stories
  3. Wisława Szymborska – Map: Collected and Last Poems (translated by Clare Cavanagh and Stanisław Barańczak)
  4. Gabriela Mistral – Madwomen: The “Locas mujeres” Poems of Gabriela Mistral, a Bilingual Edition
  5. Celeste Ng – Everything I Never Told You
  6. Svetlana Alexievich – Voices from Chernobyl (translated by Keith Gessen)
  7. Audre Lorde – Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches
  8. V.E. Schwab – The Archived (as Victoria Schwab)A Darker Shade of MagicA Gathering of Shadows
  9. Arundhati Roy – The God of Small Things
  10. Margaret Atwood – The Handmaid’s Tale

I look forward to reading more of all these authors and hope you check them out too! The names link over to their Goodreads profiles and the titles go to reviews of their books I read.
